From The Twilight Examiner:
The Los Angeles Film Festival has just announced its roster for 2010, and Eclipse is on it Here’s the relevant section of the press release:
“The Festival will host the invitation-only world premiere of Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on June 24 at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Details for the screening can be found at LAFilmFest.com. The film is directed by David Slade and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, and Dakota Fanning. In Eclipse, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings, and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob, knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse opens nationwide on June 30, 2010.”
The exact meaning of the phrase “invitation only” is unknown at this time. I’ve reached out to representatives from Summit Entertainment for clarification as to whether this means fans will or will not be able to attend the premiere.
Hopefully the latter is not what this information means. (Meaning hopefully fans can come to the premiere and wait outside to hopefully meet some of the cast!)
EDIT: KalebNation, who has contact with Summit Entertainment, has Tweeted the following message:
So, from what I can tell, both events are happening… and the one announced above is just an addition to the regularly scheduled premiere that was already happening. *Face Palm* I think people get too worried, then get ahead of themselves and start assuming things. They announced a ‘new’ Eclipse event and it is automatically assumed that it it taking the place of the actual premiere…
