Michael Sheen Will Reprise His Role As Aro in The Breaking Dawn Movie!
Breaking Dawn Movie cast announcements have been released left right and center, but we haven’t heard much about who will be returning from the Volturi cast members, or the humans. However, we do know, thanks to Variety, that Michael Sheen (aka Aro) is returning to reprise his role. They write:
The British thesp closed his deal with the studio to reprise his turn as Aro, the leader of the vampire royalty Volturi.
Bill Condon is directing “Breaking Dawn,” based on the final tome in the series, in two parts. Book centers on the mortal Bella (Kristen Stewart) marrying the vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella giving birth to a half-vampire, half-human daughter.”

The towering green giants hovered above me, the rays of sun penetrating through the many layers of weak coverage. The branches of the coniferous tree’s swayed in the cooling morning breeze, it was barely sunrise for the humans – I had to hunt, I could feel my eyes turning into the midnight black in which I revolted against. The pine needles trickled down from the canopy of wooden limbs and settled against the shoulder of my cotton dress, the material soft next to my granite skin.
I could feel the same ominous twitching behind my eyes that I had become accustomed to, the familiar scent of an upcoming event, my breath ceased and my limbs became rigid – a new wave of images caressing my brain.
They slowly unfolded from the corners like a Polaroid photograph, the colours becoming deeper and the foggy silhouettes dimming into the pallid colour of their glistening skin.
There were two images placed side-by-side, one not so frightening and the other raising a staggering heartbeat, my throat constricted and the venom flowed onto my parched tongue.
First of all, the Romanian Coven were close by, I could see their red eyes pulsing with the burning sensation to feed. The second was the Volturi, Marcus and an unknown female vampire striding aside him. The light impression against my brain suddenly dissolved and I was left with a coiling knot in my stomach, panic setting in.
Running on the balls of my feet, the feeling of crushed and trampled leaves underneath my flat shoes, I felt the wind running its fingers through my pixie styled haircut. It was an exhilarating feeling for a vampire, to run, to feel free and give into your predatory instincts – to hear every creeping animal, the steady beating of their hearts, each rustle of the leaves and the pulsing of the sweet smelling blood flowing through their veins – Carnivores tasted the best!
Curving around the bend of the meander I found Jasper finishing off an elk by the galloping waves of the river, his face was calm and controlling until he saw my alarmed features. He darted over; his honeycomb hair bouncing with the wind, “What’s wrong?”
“We need to get to the house,” I panted. “Go and get Edward and Bella, they need to hear this!”
He left with haste, using all his power he tore through the trees at an alarming speed. Taking a few steps back I felt the strength surge through my legs, then without a moment’s notice I was flying through the air – my body spiralling – I landed on the nearest tree branch using my arms to flip myself around.
When I got to the house everyone was gathered in the main room, Edward and Bella were close to Nessie who was sitting by the grand piano with Jacob, who had came earlier this morning.
Carlisle’s calm, affirmative, tone was the first to reach my ears, “Alice, tell us what’s wrong?”
Edward stared blindly at Nessie with worried eyes, Bella caught his look – he tightened his hold on her hand firmly. “What’s wrong,” she demanded.
All eyes watched him intently, “It’s the Volturi,” he sighed.
The whole room erupted in chaos, each person reacting differently. Carlisle seemed to straighten along with Esme who, with her motherly instinct, looked deeply at her adopted children; Emmett was all for it “let’s do it!” and Jacob seemed to tighten the cord he felt with Nessie and instantly felt protective. He released a low rumbling growl, “What do those leeches want now! Shall I call the pack?”
“No Jacob; Alice please explain,” Carlisle replied tenderly.
I settled down by the left wall; Jasper close behind, his arm firmly around my waist, “I only saw Marcus and an unknown female vampire. I don’t think we should be so hasty, just use some caution.”
“What do you think Edward? You saw the vision as well.”
“Why don’t we just show them what were made of, we have Bella,” Emmett roared happily while sneaking a sly glance at Bella – she still had her newborn strength and her protective gift.
Edward snarled, “We will not fight!” He paused a few seconds taking a deep breath, “When I saw Alice’s thoughts I was alarmed like her, but when I took some time to think it over I thought that if they were coming to fight more would have come.”
Esme sighed with relief, “I see your point, why send only Marcus. I would have thought he was the least bothered by the vampire law.”
“Right, that’s actually why I think we should remain calm, but for a precaution to stay altogether.” He was fixed on Jacob’s gaze and then nodded – he was obviously reading his mind to make things easier. “That’s a good idea,” with that Jacob darted out the door leaving Bella to stand by Nessie while she watched him running into the forest.
I enquired shortly after, “What was his idea?”
“He’s off to run around the perimeter with Leah and Seth, and alert Sam in case they come across anything.”
It was a long tormenting hour before any news came back; Rosalie and Emmett disappeared upstairs along with Jasper who I knew would be in his office, Carlisle and Esme were in the dining room talking silently and lastly, Edward and Bella were watching Nessie through anxious eyes. They had no idea what the reason was for the Volturi’s visit, but whatever it was they weren’t going to leave their daughter alone.
Bella walked towards me, affection in her eyes. “Thank you,” she whispered. “For wanting to warn us for Renesmee’s sake, if it is her they want.” She strode away, her long brown hair falling down her shoulders.
Suddenly, Edward’s eyes found the fringes of forest surrounding the house – no doubt Jacob was shouting something in his mind for him to hear. Then I heard his telepathic voice, we had gotten good at this but we had never used it for a while. They have found a scent; I have it feeling it might be our visitors.
We might have a complication if the Romanian coven happens to stop by.
I heard his laugh and Bella turned asking what was so funny. “Nothing Bella, darling, Alice was simply just pointing out something,” he answered lightly kissing her porcelain cheek.
It was then that Jacob, in his wolf form, came padding from the edge of the woods, two vampires at his side. Marcus and the female vampire we didn’t know, Edward stared at her worriedly until his creased brow was loosened. Her name is Caroline, her husband was killed by Aro, and Marcus brought her to save her life.
By now we had all gathered outside, Renesmee clutching at Bella’s jeans – Jacob’s eyes observed her carefully.
It was Carlisle who spoke first, “Marcus, what do I owe this visit?”
His lips were clamped shut and his head bowed, Edward answered his question. “He has left the Volturi, he found Aro to have murdered his wife Didyme and no longer see’s him as a brother.” Both the vampire’s coal black eyes were now settling on Nessie’s; no doubt they could hear the faint thudding of her hybrid heart.
Then slipping his hand from Bella’s, Edward moved towards Carlisle and explained the situation silently amongst the crowd. “I am sorry to hear brother the source of your sadness, yours as well Caroline.”
She was astonished by his knowledge of herself; keeping herself quiet she nodded and bowed in respect.
Then in the distance we could all hear the thumping of wolf paws, Leah and Seth came running into the clearing, all heads turned, and all eyes staring at the two figures. A snarl ripped into the air and into the clearing came the Romanian coven – Stefan and Vladimir, their bodies crouched, their teeth exposed.

Michael Sheen (Aro) ‘will likely return’ for ‘Breaking Dawn’
As excited as we all are for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse to come out, it hasn’t stopped us Twi-Hards from thinking ahead to The Breaking Dawn Movie. So far there has been minimal information released about the fourth movie, Breaking Dawn, but we are hoping Michael Sheen will return for his role as Aro – and it seems as though he will:
Adding the list of actors who have expressed an interest in returning for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is Michael Sheen, who portrayed “Aro” in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
This weekend, Sheen’s Alice In Wonderland debuts in theaters, and to promote the film he did an interview with the Toronto Sun about his increasing involvement in young audience-friendly films.
Apparently, despite the fact that his resume spans two decades, his daughter Lily has only just become a fan of his work. Prior to New Moon, Sheen had done Frost/Nixon, The Queen, The Damned United, the Underworld series, and more, but Lily didn’t quite fit the demographic of viewership for those projects.
“Having spent years and years doing films in which she had no interest in whatsoever, either because she couldn’t watch them because they’re too scary, or she didn’t want to watch them because they’re too boring,” Sheen says, “now to be able to do films that are slam-bang in the middle of what she’s interested in, it’s fantastic for me as a dad.”
It seems that this growing tradition will continue, too, if Sheen reprises his role in Breaking Dawn. As you know, only a portion of the “Volturi” is present in Eclipse, and “Aro” is not one of those who journey to Forks, Washington in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Some worried that with the absence of certain characters in Eclipse some of the actors might move on and not return for Breaking Dawn. Of course, the same was true for Sarah Clarke (“Renee”) from Twilight who was not present in New Moon but did indeed come back for Eclipse.
The Toronto Sun, however, might have just dispelled any concern that Sheen has found better and brighter by reporting the following: “Although his character is absent from this June’s next Twilight movie, Eclipse — “I can sit back and watch all the others have to go through that again,” he says, smiling — he will likely return in the fourth, Breaking Dawn.”
